What is a Pub Run? A pub run is a free of cost opportunity to gather together with individuals of all ability and fitness levels, to run/jog/or walk in a safe and welcoming environment.
Why call it a Pub Run? Pub runs typically center around locally owned micro breweries. Franklin County runs begin and end at either Chaos Mountain Brewery in Callaway or Sunken City Brewery in Westlake. These venues stay open late enough to host the evening activity which not only increases evening offerings for the community but stimulates the local economy. Come just for the run/walk or stay afterwards to socialize.
I’m not a runner and I don’t drink alcohol why should I come? These family friendly evening offerings are a great way to meet people in your community and get some exercise. Whether you push the stroller or are walking the dogs, all are welcome! After the exercise is over you are welcome to stay and socialize at the brewery.
Isn’t it going to be dark outside? It’s challenging to stay active even during the long days of summer, and all the more challenging when it gets dark at 5:30. The Shine Runners facilitates a safe place to exercise even after the sun goes down. Please bring a light and reflective gear. Several demo lights and reflective vest will be available upon request thanks to our sponsors, Princeton Tec and Tuvizo.
What if I have more questions? Just contact any of the staff at Franklin County Parks and Recreation and a friendly voice will be glad to further assist you! 540-483-9293
