The Lovely Valley Loop Trail is now open and is receiving rave reviews. This 2.25 mile multipurpose trail is located in Wirtz next to the Napoli Cowboy Restaurant on the way to the 4H Center. The hiking trail features mature hardwoods, clear streams, and abundant wildlife.
During the grand opening, Franklin County Board of Supervisor Chairman Ronnie Thompson made the following remarks: "Today is a day of celebration—a celebration of nature, of community, and of progress,” said, “The Lovely Valley Loop Trail represents the culmination of months of planning, hard work, and dedication from generous individuals and gracious community sponsors. It is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together with a shared vision and a commitment to excellence. This trail, winding its way through the scenic landscapes of Smith Farm Park, offers us the opportunity to connect with nature, to unwind, and to rejuvenate our spirits. It provides a space for outdoor recreation, exercise, and relaxation - a space where families can come together, where friendships can be forged, and where memories can be made. But beyond its physical attributes, the Lovely Valley Loop Trail embodies something much deeper—it embodies the spirit of Franklin County. It reflects our deep appreciation for the natural beauty that surrounds us, our commitment to preserving our environment, and our belief in the power of community.”
Thompson continued by thanking those who helped bring the project to fruition. “I want to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to those who have played a part in making this project a reality—to Mrs. Reba Dillon who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, to the volunteers who gave their time and energy, and to the countless supporters who cheered us on every step of the way.
