Park Information & Directions

Smith Mountain Lake Community Park is a picturesque park located on Smith Mountain Lake. The 37-acre park opened in June 2007 and is a family-oriented park providing fishing, swimming, and family recreation. The park is open year-round (dawn to dusk); however, the beach is open seasonally. Pets are not allowed on the beach while the remainder of the park is pet friendly.

Smith Mountain Lake Community Park is located at the end of Parkway Avenue. Directions: Take 122 to Scruggs Road. Turn onto Scruggs Road and follow Scruggs Road for 4.8 miles. Turn left onto Bluewater Drive and continue for 1.2 miles. Turn right onto Saunders Farm and continue to the stop sign. Turn right onto Winding Waters Drive which turns into Montego Bay Drive. Turn left on to Parkway Avenue and continue through the neighborhood until you reach your destination.

Open Daily (Weather Permitting): June 6 – August 20, 2025

Weekends Only (Weather Permitting): May 24 – June 5, 2025 and August 23 - September 1, 2025 

Hours of Operation: 10:00am – 6:00pm

Beach Fee:

- Ages 4 – Adults: $5.00

- Ages 3 and under: Free

Cash and Credit/Debit Cards are accepted.


· The beach is open only when lifeguards are on duty and swimming is only permitted in the designated swimming area.

· The beach will not be open on days when the local weather forecast predicts a maximum high of less than 70° (F). Please check the FCPR weather hotline (540-483-9293) for closing information.

· Beach users must enter the center gate and visit the money booth to purchase a wristband for the day.

· Children ages 14 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult while on the beach.

· The beach has a maximum capacity which is based on the number of lifeguards scheduled for the day.

· Pets are not permitted on the beach.
